Heligoland's new album "All Your Ships Are White" is the band's first release since re-locating from their hometown of Melbourne, Australia to Paris, France to tour Europe in support of the band's previous album "A Street Between Us".
A tiny café in one of the cavernous terminals at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris was the somewhat unlikely location for the band's first meeting with producer Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins/Violet Indiana).
From this initial meeting, a working relationship developed that shaped the creation of "All Your Ships Are White".
Recorded in Paris and Rennes, "All Your Ships Are White" is a clear departure from the band's earlier recordings, drawing upon and reflecting on the band's experiences overseas.
The atmospheric songwriting and soaring vocals of Karen Vogt that have always been the hallmarks of Heligoland's music are now recast in a far more expansive, powerful and layered sound and production.
